• Cast Polypropolene (CPP) Is a side welded materials, widely used for packaging textiles and clothing. CPP has a good gloss / clarity appearance as well as a softness to touch. It also offers excellent seal strength and anti-static qualities.
• Biaxially oriented polypropylene (BOPP), co-extruded and coated this is a good general purpose film used for many applications. It can be supplied uncoated or coated to offer tailored barrier protection against gases, odours, aromas, moisture, and UV light.
Laminates – metalised / pearlised
Laminates are created by adhering two or more films to make up a single substrate/film. This process offers excellent visual presentation and can also provide good barrier properties.
Bio-degradable and compostable (PLA)
• Cellulose
A heat sealable material sometimes referred to as cellophane. It is made from woodpulp, and it is a biodegradeable non-polluting material. Cellulose film comes in both coated and uncoated options and offers good anti-static properties as well as excellent clarity and gloss. Coatings on the cellulose such as polyvinylidene chloride (PVdC)
offer effective barrier properties. Cellulose is also available in a
metalised version.
• Polylacticacid (PLA)
This material is a polylacticacid (PLA) and manufactured from cornstarch, which is an annually renewable resource that is both fully biodegradable and compostable. Under industrial conditions (58°C) the film will break down into carbon dioxide and water within 45 days. PLA exhibits excellent quality features such as transparency and a high surface gloss as well as good rigidity / stiffness comparable with BOPP.
• Natureflex™
A fully biodegradable and compostable film, manufactured from renewable woodpulp. This is a heat sealable material which has been developed by Innovia and is supplied in uncoated and coated versions.
